Run Club Featured Runners June-August 2023 - Spring 2023 Racers! | Past Featured Runners

In our final race of the spring season (Schoolhouse Rocks 5K), Run Club had 100+ racers with 40 runners completing their first 5K ever, 32 new Personal 5K Records (PR), and 17 top 10 age group finishes!

Run Club Featured Runners April-May 2023 - 2nd Graders!

2nd graders on the Run Club team have been doing very well. Lucy (above) ran as 7 year old on our 8 & Unders team as one of our top 3 runners that secured Run Club Menlo Park's first ever meet championship at the Run Club Invitational on November 13th. See her kicking in to the finish for 5th place overall!

Raphi (below) had 3 top 10 finishes in USATF cross-country races last season and performed Run Club's best ever hill pass in club history!

Run Club Featured Runners Jan 2023 - Girls 8 & Unders Team

This is the amazing 8 & Unders Girls Run Club Cross-Country team. This team narrowly missed winning its first race of the season at Hayward High School after just 6 weeks of training losing to 5NORTH from Tracy CA by 1 point and just 44 hundredths of a second! They took 2nd again at the 10/30 Soquel/Santa Cruz race to the Oakland Cubs (who they beat at Hayward). They then came back for a re-match at the Run Club Invitational in Menlo Park's Bedwell Bayfront Park course on 11/13 to soundly defeat 5NORTH 24-33 (low score wins in Cross-Country). Emmi was the meet champion at the Soquel & Menlo Park races - at Soquel, she beat last year's Northern CA/Northern NV Junior Olympics champion by 12 seconds. Emmi is also ranked ~7th fastest cross-country runner in the United States (Girls 8 & Unders).

Front Row: Lily, Laylah, Emmi, Sami, Lucy (7), Ada
Back Row: Maesie, Audrey, Lianna, Coach Scott, Emelia, & Bella
Missing: Zoe (7).

Run Club Featured Runners Oct-Nov 2022 - Maggie & Maesie

Pictured are Maggie ("M") [left] and Maesie [right]. Both girls participated in their first ever cross-country race last weekend at Hayward High School. USA Track & Field Cross-Country is the highest level of competition available to kids this age in the entire US. There is no higher level of competition.

In her first race, "M" led our girls 9-10 year old team running a perfectly paced race (careful start, slowly moving up through the pack, HUGE KICK to finish!).

Maesie debuted with a phenomenal race being just the 3rd girl in Run Club history to crack the top 10 in their first ever USATF XC race and earned her first race ribbon (10th place). She helped power our very strong 8 & Unders team to a 2nd place finish in the meet (missing 1st by just a single point!).

Run Club Featured Runner Sep/Oct 2022 - Max C.

Run Club's first ever 100 Mile Club runner! Pictured is Max (7th Grade) who trained with Coach Scott last Spring during Hillview's 6 week track program. Over the off-season Summer, Max trained on his own and completed 100 miles of running to become the first recipient of the Run Club 100 Mile Club award. In the Winter/Summer off-seasons, Elementary school age runners have the opportunity to join the 50 Mile Club and middle school runners can join the 100 Mile Club. This off-season running forms the foundation for a great start to a successful running season in the Fall (Cross-Country) or Spring (Track). Congratulations, Max!!

Run Club Featured Runners Summer 2022 - Eléonore & Annabel

Pictured are Eléonore (4th season) and Annabel (6th season). These two girls have worked hard at every practice and their amazing effort shows up in their progress on their 5K times!

That's the kind of progress we aim to achieve at Run Club over 10 weeks of training and from season to season!

Feature Runner: Tabitha - 11 Seasons with Run Club!

Tabitha has run 6 straight seasons (that was 2021!) with Run Club Menlo Park (RCMP) and won the All-Star Performance Award this Spring season (entire team). Her hard work and determination earned her personal bests in all four of her 5K runs this past Fall and Spring seasons.

Fall Practice 5K: 37:35
Fall Final 5K: 35:36
Spring Practice 5K: 31:40 (89° Heat!)
Spring Final 5K: 28:56

Run Club Feature: Tough Girls!

With 42 girls on the team (2021), not every girl can be the #1 runner, but these two girls are my top 2 toughest runners on the team this season. This is Natalie and Izzy. They both dutifully did the running and hard intervals I asked them to do. More than that, they signed up for EVERY possible racing opportunity I made available for the team this season. These two are not only tough, but courageous racers!
